What is the most expensive item in the world? This might seem relative to some people depending on their financial status. Some will find that question interesting because it’s what they pursue in life – that is getting the most expensive item – which can be a car or jewellery, a house or something people can point at, to direct some accolades to your person. The greatest teacher ever, Jesus Christ, admonished us not to lose the most expensive item in the world. Matthew 16:26 says: “ And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?[a] Is anything worth more than your soul? ”
Just for one moment, let’s think about that one statement.
From that one verse of scripture, you can see that you gain gain the whole world and yet lose another thing. So what’s the value of the soul?
And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?[a] Is anything worth more than your soul? – Matthew 16:26
The soul must be extremely important for Jesus to make such a statement. The question is how expensive is the soul to make it that important?
